Intro to Polyvagal Theory Workshop

Intro to Polyvagal Theory Workshop

$55.00

A leading-edge, groundbreaking body of work, Polyvagal Theory (PVT) was first developed in the 1990s by Stephen Porges. PVT elucidates the science of connection, both internally and externally, offering a map of the nervous system to guide our exploration, as well as skills we can practice to strengthen our ability to anchor ourselves through safety and regulation amidst challenges to our sense of equilibrium.

In essence, Polyvagal Theory is the template of feeling safe in our body. It’s a way of relating to ourselves, others and the world that allows us to feel anchored, secure and expressed

PVT helps us to create deeper intimacy within and without; both in our own being and the world around us.

PVT helps us to strengthen our internal connection, take new risks and inspired actions, and to fall in love with life.

A regulated nervous system is fundamental to the process of navigating the world with a sense of safety and ease. We ALL encounter problems, triggers and points of navigation over the course of a day. Some are more easily managed than others, but no matter where an experience lands on the continuum of mild to traumatic, understanding how the nervous system works is the path to finding the way back to regulation.

When we learn to befriend the nervous system, track states, and anchor in autonomic safety, the inevitable challenges that we all face as we move through our days aren't quite so daunting anymore. If we put a problem aside and turn our attention toward learning how to shape our systems in the direction of safety and connection, we can return to the problem and see it in an entirely new way from a much more resourced and empowered place.

When we are anchored in a regulated system, infinite possibilities and solutions begin to emerge. It’s also the process of moving from fight/flight/freeze to regain the power of conscious choice. The beauty of this is that it opens up so many new doors for us. Here we can actively choose expansion over contraction; empowerment over disempowerment; inspired action over disassociation, and so on.

This workshop will be led by SBA Founder, Kaya Leigh. Kaya is learned and studied in PVT and has undergone a CE Training with Deb Dana to become PV-Informed. This will be a foundational, introductory workshop with practices to take with you and apply in day-to-day life.

A note of credit and citation: This workshop is adapted from the work of Deb Dana and Stephen Porges, PhD, creator of PVT. The workshop is also infused with the personal reflections, expansions, extrapolations and additions of Kaya Leigh. The primary material of the Polyvagal framework is fully credited to Stephen Porges, master and creator of PVT.
